Flat Racing 2007 Season - Europe Newbury, Saturday 21st April 2007 Going - Good to Firm
Greenham Stakes , £27254, 7f, 3yo, Group 3 Dutch Art (J.Fortune, P.Chapple-Hyam) went of as odd-on favourite but failed to live up to his unbeaten record as a 2yo. He was beaten three and a half lengths by the second favourite of 6 runners, Major Cadeaux (R.Hughes, R.Hannon), who made all and easily quickened away in the last phases.
Dutch Art is now out to 12s in the guineas betting with sponsors Stan James. His trainer kept upbeat after the race, indicating he was not pushed to his limits in this sprint of a race. Chapple-Hyam previously won the guineas with 'Rodrigo de Tirano' after losing the Greenham.
The winner is now into 11/2 third favourite for the 2000, and could be a real contender if he can keep up the sprint for an extra furlong.
