A warming alcoholic drink
traditionally made during Christmas. The spices will heat you up after being out
in the cold after a heavy shopping trip.
Ingredients
2 bottles red wine (dark & oaky wine
is best, not a light fruity one).
Cinnamon bark
Cardamom pods
3 to 4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 clementines, satsumas or oranges
1 lemon
4 clove storks
2 bay leaves
1 Earl Grey tea bag
10ml dark rum
Preparation
Pour the wine into a large pot.
Turn the heat to high.
Break in 2 cinnamon sticks.
Crush several cardamom pods and add into the wine. Add in the sugar.
Cut the clementines in half and
pierce each with a stork of clove then add into the pot along with 2 bay leaves
and the halved lemon.
Boil the kettle and make a cup of tea
by infusing the Earl Grey teabag for about 1 minute. Add the tea into the
wine along with 10ml of rum.
Bring the pot to the boil then turn
down the heat to very low. Allow all of the flavours to infuse for about
15 minutes whilst not allowing too much of the alcohol to burn off.
